Hi guys, i have a question about my temp, although it is only at 40c. I am running a AXP 1800+ with a alpha heat sink. When i first installed it my temps were around 35-36c. I removed the fan and my god the dust was bad, so i cleaned the heat sink, and the fan, but no temp change. I have a sucky case, so i have the side off (i am going to get a antec case). I know that 40c is not a bad temp, but do u think i need to reapply the HS greese. OH and by the way, my room temps stay the same. Thanks guys

I only LIE because you cant handle the truth.

Any time you remove a heatsink you should clean the heatsink and cpu. Then reapply thermal paste and reinstall.

You should also check and clean your front intake fan if the cpu was that dirty. Most intakes on cheap cases have the little holes punched out for airflow. These get clogged very easily. The best thing to do is take off the front bezeel and fan. Use a pair on tin snips to completely cut away all the melal from the center of the fan mount. Now you have unrestricted air flow.

I aint signing nothing!!!
