I've been trying out my new Sony DRU-500A DVD+/-R/RW drive the last few days. I have successfully burned several files from a DVD-Video disc onto a DVD+RW. When I try the same thing with a DVD-R disc though I get nothing but coasters. I'm running Windows ME and have used both VERITAS RecordNow 4.5 and SmartRipper 2.41. Both programs immediately write a bogus file called Track01.cda to the disc and then quit. The DVD I'm trying to duplicate has no audio files so I don't know where this file is coming from. I call it bogus as I cannot play it as an audio file and it's size is only 1 KB. Appreciate any suggestions.

Have a look through this most excellent website <A HREF="http://www.dvdrhelp.com/" target="_new">http://www.dvdrhelp.com/</A>

The ripper I use is <A HREF="http://www.dvddecrypter.com/guide.asp" target="_new">DVD decrypter</A> and has worked with everything I have thrown at it.

It might also be the media you are using too > <A HREF="http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdmedia" target="_new">http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdmedia</A>

I am led to believe that DVD+R and DVD+RW are the way to go for video.
