Why do i need bootable media to start my computer?

my computer will boot only with a bootable cd or dvd in the drive
i have tried to repair the mbr but that fails too
when i do the scanos command no os's show up

Does your hard drive work? Do you know how to install that DVD onto your hard drive? After that, restart your computer, go into your bios and boot from your hard drive not your cd/dvd drive.

then you need to write a new mbr.


i cant install win7 sp1.

wierd issue i have is that for some reason my mbr gets erased so ive given up trying.

what did you do before you got this problem.

or is it a new pc you just bought?
