Slow-mo gaming

I bought meself Grand Theft Auto 3 on the weekend, looked to be fun... only problem is that even at 640x480x16bit it runs like an episode of the 6million dollar man (ie running in slow-motion)
I would guess that the prob is my current graphics card as I have a 1.2Gig athlon 256MB DDR on a KT266a mobo and my card is a 3D prohpet Kyro2 64mb wiv latest drivers & Dx8.1 (going by the min spec of the game I thought it could handle it)

Has anybody else tried GTA3 with a Kyro2, or is it just me getting a bad framerate

I don't have a Kryo II but I can tell you that by this point the Kryo II is significantly outclassed.

Get a new graphics board if you want to play GTA3

you need a faster cpu and a GF3 class video card to run the game properly, the games engine sucks big time, hopefully there's a patch in the future fixing the lag issue.

did u try other recent games??

as for your setup...its more than enough for all current games...especially if u r willing to run them at low specs...your G Card on the other hand is outdated...

JK2 plays well @ 800x600x32 bit as well as Max Payne this week...

oh well Ti4200 or R8500LE here I come.. there goes my bank balance :-(

Wait a few weeks until ATi's new card comes out. You can either get the new card (supports DX9) or pick up the R8500 for less $$ than its currently selling.

Sex is great but it's no substitute for the real thing.....

with inflation, it is probably $600 million... now that should buy serious 'upgrades'

(though probably he will have 'intel inside' stamped on his butt or designed for some fancy edition of Win XP...)
