Usb booting

I just finished building my new computer and I am trying to install windows 7 of a usb, it won't seem to work though. I have set the bios to check my usb slots first so that's not the problem but when i start it up it tells me to insert media and press any key.

Have you tried booting from the same USB drive on another computer to see if it works? Also try plugging it in from the back, is there another boot option at startup? Some motherboards have a button to press at startup for boot options.

never mind i was given the wrong usb its got the update drivers not the boot
