How do I install an xp hdd into a win 7 pc

I have set up a new Windows 7 PC. I have connected to the new system a hdd from the old xp computer. Lenevo's hardware check recognizes the drive, however the drive is not recognized by Win 7's file explorer. Your help is appreciated

If you go into Disk Management, is the drive Online? right mouse-click and select Online if not

is it assigned a drive letter?

Did as you instructed. It is now assigned a drive letter and I have access to all information.
