That's what AMD said. Can you go to compaq site or Epson site and buy them NOW. If you can post the link here. Thanks.

Well wasn't Compaq doing notebook adds recently that had the Tbred in it? I beleive it was the one which caused a stir when they mistakenly wrote in 512K L2 cache on one of their models.

Laptops are not like desktops, you have to specifically design a laptop around the cpu, compaq does not sell a mobile athlon laptop yet, but that dosent mean the chips arent there, amd does not do paper launches, and the vendors have access to tbred mobile chips.

but why do a pulic announcement now, when they claim to have been shipping to OEMs through Q1. You would have thought they would announce once they start shipping to OEMs, or wait until products are ready to hit the shelves.

Who claims to have been shipping in q1, and also q1 is still less than a month ago.

compaq does not sell a mobile athlon laptop yet

Not true, I have owned/used two of them; the first an Athlon 4 mobile 1GHz palomino (1200 series) over a year ago - the second a 700 series palomino. If you were referring to the T-bred, Fry's in Wilsonville had a Compaq 725US series Mobile Athlon XP 1600+ on sale yesterday for $1399 (including the $100 rebate).

I thought a thought, but the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I had thought.

The Athlon 4 wasn't out over a year ago.

Let me dig up my receipt - OK, I bought my first Athlon 4 mobile (Compaq 1200 series) in May of 2001 - It was announced in April, so it was available a year ago. The mobile palomino was available months before the desktop version was.
