my question to people of this forum is that what's really the different between the Pentium processors (1.6A, 1.8A, ect.) or any Athlon XP processor other than the fact that it has different clock multiplier? So if we would able to change the multiplier, than would the 1.6A be the same as the 1.8A or any other ones? Would we get the same performance and would it dispatch same amount of heat?

Ps. sorry if this is a stupid question

Yes, but some chips cant run at the faster speeds, its more complicated than making a chip and selling it at whatever speed you want, but thats the general idea.

"They can't run at the faster speeds" Is it because they are locked and the multiplier can not be adjusted or for other reasons. i am very interested because I just bought an AX-7 heatsink and an OEM XP 1800+ I though that the only obstacle in overclocking the chip would be the heat and I could get better results by simply adjusting the multiplier. Am I totally off base?
