More about need good laptop gaming budget
  1. Raise de budget sum more.
  2. What have you found for $400 so far that looks like it might be what you want?
  3. Hows this.

    http://www.bjs.com/toshiba-satellite-c675-s7212-173-laptop-with-amd-dual-core-c-50-accelerated-processor-4gb-ddr3-500gb-hdd---black.product.195984

No shipping cost because Bj's is right next to my house and might be able to grab a 10% discount also. Friend works their.

Also keep in mind I can get a hold of XPS M153 by trading it with my neighbor.

As for the budget I had 750 but lost 350 becuase of financial aid not covering full cost.
  4. NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT review your neighbors current laptop graphics card.

Near the same performance as Intel HD Graphics 3000, the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450 and GeForce 310M. You'll need a more powerful graphics card if you want to improve your gaming results.

Do you want to consider used / reconditioned laptops?

What are you using right now?
  5. Dell XPS m1530 is HEAPS better than that Toshiba Satellite C675 with that AMD C-50 1Ghz CPU and integrated Radeon HD 6250 graphics.
    AMD C-50 Ontario 1.0Ghz APU

I dont know about used laptops, I have nvr bought one before. Are they worth it. ill buy it if thats my only option.

As for current, I am using Compaq CQ5102F PC. I believe its stock version.
  7. I'm gonna have to say that you won't get a good gaming especially on a laptop for $400.

you might want to look at desktops.
  8. That laptop you linked is a display model. That's a used laptop to my way of thinking.
And you're considering your neighbors used laptop already.

    Compaq Presario CQ5102F desktop PC
Intel Celeron 450 2.2Ghz CPU and Integrated Intel GMA 3100 graphics.
It does have a PCI-e slot for a video card upgrade.
  9. Stick a $30 video card in your desktop PC and it should run games a lot better - probably better than any $400 laptop you'll find.

WOW I didn't even consider upgrading mine at any point.

Well I do have a $400 budget, so what else can I upgrade.
  11. I can open up the Pc and take a pic if you would like me to.
  12. You can actually build a new gaming tower for about $400.
What are you using for a monitor?

    compaq q1859 monitor
  14. For about $200-250 (CPU upgrade, power supply upgrade, video card upgrade, RAM upgrade to 4GB) you can have a PC that will kick butt vs any laptop that's under $1000
  15. Yep both pics match to whats in front of me.

    slowly picks it up.
  17. Here is a ready built PC tower for $400 iBUYPOWER Gamer Power 502D3 Desktop PC

WOW JUST WOW, serious people how do you guys do what you do, seriously whats your secret.

Wow checked some youtube vids and reviews and it seems it can play what I want it to play fine.
  19. So what do you think

upgrading my compaq pesario or buying the 400 tower better.
  20. Upgrading the Compaq Presario is going to be less expensive if you don't need a copy of Windows 7. And you'll get a video card that's quite a bit better than the HD 5450.

Probably best if you go ask that question over in the section of the forum that does PC upgrades and new PC builds. Systems Forum
Look around there for a bit and see what other people are talking about.

You'll get some ideas on how to ask your own questions. Something like: $300 upgrade or $400 new build?
Give them the link to your current PC & monitor, plus the $400 CyberPower PC and let them suggest different options for you to think about.
  21. What's already certain is that $400 CyberPower PC is a better gaming choice than any new $400 laptop.

A good part of that reason is you already have a decent LCD screen that you'd have to include in the cost of the laptop.
