I have a Asus 7M266-D with 2 AMD MP 2000+ CPU's, Bios Version 1004. When I watch the boot screen go by the correct chip is recognized. When I get to WinXP and check in the Controll Panel they are listed as AMD Athon XP 1900+. Is this a problem that can be fixed, or even needs to be fixed?

thanks

Grab WCPUID and check the clockspeed. It could easily just be an error.

I got CPU ID from AMD and ran it, it identifies the chip as a XP 1900+ with a speed of 1667 MHz. That speed is also what I get when I go into the Bios. That is the correct speed for a XP 2000+, the XP 1900+ would be 1600MHz.

I'm not overclocking anything, it is an authentic MP 2000+ motherboard running on factory defualts.

Where'dya get the chips? OEM? Maybe they're not authentic 2000 chips...

Who'dya gettem from?

If I don't get my 90THz AMD Quadraplex system soon, I'm afraid I may just combust right here.

I got the Chips from Googlegear. They were the boxed retail type with "Certificate of Authenticity" and all.

As I said they are recognized correctly by the Bios on Boot UP as MP2000+ with the CPU Speed of 1666. It's just Win XP that thinks they are XP 1900+ chips. It (WinXP) does find both of the chips, but misidentifies them both.

I have a tech request into AMD to see if they know why XP can't identify the chips correctly. Maybe it's just a glitch in the OS.

thanks
