CPU freezing up

I have an old Digital PC 3000 (233Mhz) used just for email. It has 256mb Ram. It frequently freezes and only a reboot will work. I have replaced the DISK and reinstalled all the software. It is on a network, could it be the network card or have you another suggestion on how I identify the problem area?

are u using windows 98 or me...they are terrible with memory management...try upgrading to xp or 2000 if xp is to slow...i run xp on a pII 233 with 160mg of ram and it runs surpisingly smooth...never crashes either like it did with win me
