dell monitor goes black from the time it\' switched on. Power goes through clearly but the screen remains blank. Pl

Look at the screen at an angle and see if you see something. If you do the invertor or backlight may have failed.
Try to connnect an external monitor and toggle the function key that switches between the laptop's screen and the external monitor. Move the screen on its hinge. If the external monitor works and the flexing of the screen has no effect then, your graphics chip works and the screen may be defective. If flexing the screen on it hinge shows an image the flexable cable may be an issue.
