My freind a Soltek VIAKT266A chipset mobo with Athlon XP 1900+, 256MB DDR pc2100, Geforce ti4400 (oc'd past a stock ti4600), and the dragonorb3 hs/f. I have the gigabyte gA-7V-TXE+ VIA KT26A chipset, Athlon XP 1800+, 128MB DDR pc2100, dragonorb3 hs/f and a 4mb pci video card (hey, I need a job). I have my fsb at 148 (and its very stable) but he highest he get his w/out crashing is 144. I have no idea why i can get my fsb higher than his, just wondering if anyone else has any ideas.
When overclocking, results are never guaranteed. YOu may have just gotten a better chip than he did. Also, his clock multiplier is higher so for every MHz of FSB he overclocks. he'll get more performance than you. For example:
I think the XP1900+ has a mulitplier of 12 and the 1800+ a multiplier of 11.5
Therefore: 12x133=1600MHz
Overclocked 12x144=1728MHz (this is the speed of a XP2100+, which is the fastest XP chip out there)
11.5x133=1530MHz
Overclocked - 11.5x148=1702MHZ(close to XP2100+)
So there you have it. Both of your chips are pushing it right now. As I said, the overclocking on differnt chips is different and there's really no way to predict.
