Well the topic is self explanatory really

For years I have pondered wtf the opening in the cable of wired xbox 360 controllers is for. I cannot ask google despite having tried several billion times because I don't know how to freakin describe what I see...

But yeah I'm sure som1 knows so perhaps they can tell me : What are they, and more importantly, WHAT ARE THEY FOR

More about : question

Someone else may confirm or debunk but my own thoughts on them are that they are quick release connectors in case you accidentaly step on the cable.

They are called break away cables, they were made so that if someone trips on the wire they don't pull the console with them and damage or break the console if it is on a table or on a high table or something and so that the wire doesn't get damaged.

You can glue them together if they annoy you but then you have a risk of damaging your controller wire or console or both if you trip on the wire.

cool nice thx.
Personal note though- this invention is a failure, whenever I actually do trip on the cable the whole pad flies with it anyway. Its light enough to not get detached... but oh well I guess MS had to add something like this to fight law suits

Anyway yeah thread closed as far as I'm concerned
