Recently I put a new system together which does not have a DVD-ROM drive, and I'm attempting to do a clean install of Windows 7 via a USB stick as an alternative. The small monkey wrench here is that my only other computer in the house is a MacBook Air, so I've used the Boot Camp Assistant to create a bootable USB install for Windows 7 (using the Windows 7 ISO).
However, when I try to boot from the USB drive on my PC, I simply see a repeating flashing underscore. And the nothing happens. I don't see any Windows 7 set up as expected, and leaving it to sit for a bit doesn't really change anything.
My next step is to attempt to create the boot drive from a Windows PC using Microsoft's official tool (I have a Windows PC at work), but I'm curious to know if there's something else that might cause this to happen that may be related to my hardware. Thanks!
