How to install drivers in windows 7 from dvd

For pre-built systems and laptops you find the model of the system.

For custom-built you use the MOTHERBOARD support site.

Some drivers can be found elsewhere (like video, audio or even Intel drivers. Intel can even SCAN your system and recommend updates from their website).

I've had trouble doing this when installing windows 7 when I needed a raid driver. The windows install just wouldn't recognize the dvd. I eventually went out and bought a cheap usb dvd player to use as a second drive during the install (I had to restart the install for it to recognize the drive).

I've never needed to install a RAID driver on setup, but from what I've read, things tend to work fine if you just put the drivers on a flash drive.
