I have windows 7 64 bit on my computer with internet explorer 8. Whenever I click to download a file (such as zip) I get the typical open / save/ cancel box. I would like to always open the file automatically without the prompt. The one problem however is that I don't get the typical checkbox that says "ask before opening this type of file" Its not grayed out ...its missing. I would like to uncheck it so I can automatically open my zip files. I've searched and nobody else seems to be having this issue.

Thanks for all the replies... turns out its just Internet explorer 8. Figures they'd make things more difficult over at microsoft. Anyways Google Chrome does exactly what I want it to do. Thanks again.
