if its a compaq you'll have to press F10, if its HP you'll have to press F1 or F2, well its got to be any one of these: F1, F2, F10, Del, Esc, or you can hold down Ctrl.

if you're not sure which key it is to get into setup, do this:
take a hammer and give the keyboard a good couple wacks, but keep it plugged in. now boot up. it should give you a keyboard error and tell you to hit "X key" to go into setup. ("X key" being the DEL, ESC, F1 or F2 key).

[insert philosophical statement here]

Get your windows start up disk (or make a new one) then go to the dos prompt from there. I think ESC at the menu or something like that. It says on the screen what to hit for a dos prompt.
