I have a few questions....

1) I got a heatsink with my processor. It just says "AMD" on it. My CPU is running at 120 F (50 C).This is running temp for normal situations. Is there a better heatsink I can get? Some specific heatsink/ fan suggestions would be GREAT :)

2) Hey Im running Counter Strike under Windows 98. I get 71 FPS solid. My friend who has GeForce 2 GTS says he's getting over 100. What is the problem. Comp Stats listed below.

My COMP specs :

AMD XP 2100+
256 DDR 2100 ram
SOLTEK SL75 DR
80 gig HD 7200 rpm
GeForce 4 4600 128 meg
FAN LISTING :

Powersupply FAN : 400 WAT
CASE Fan :below PWR Supply
CPU FAN
GPU FAN (Little fan soldierd on the vid card)
Little FAN : Its on top of the VIA chip thing (soldierd on by SOLTEK)

Um Im a moron I need HELLLLLLLLP (mIRC newbie)

I'll bet the graphics on your system look a fair amount better. You could disable some of the advanced features of your card to improve your scores. Increasing your refresh rate (85hz) can also improve your frame rate. Make sure you have the latest drivers.

Complicated proofs are proofs of confusion.

Sometimes the Vsync may hold back the FPS. See if any AA is enabled. Also what's the resolution? Higher resolutions also really slows down FPS.

My firewall tastes like burning.

If I'm not mistaken, the halflife engine has a console command which sets the ceiling for fps. It's something akin to "cl_fpsmax" or cl_maxfps". Search the net for a list of console commands. I think it's default is 71.

Counter-strike limits you at like 72 or 71 FPS you can type FPS_MAX in the console and set that to 100 or 1 million you will always max out at 100 (atleast I do with my GF3) the command might be MAX_FPS but I am pretty sure its FPS_MAX
