Hdd doesnt show up in window installation

On fresh installation, windows 7 cant find hdd on installation(asks to install driver), but in BIOS it shows hdd. I am installing win7 x64 from usb cuz my dvd drive doesnt work.
Toshiba L655-14f
hdd - hitachi HTS545050B9A300 (S2) 500gb 5400rpm
Cpu - Intel Core i5...M450 @ 2.40 ghz
Ram - 6gb ddr3

In the BIOS look for the SATA Controller setting. Make sure the mode is set to ACHI and not IDE or RAID.

Thank you very much casper...it solved my problem...It was set to compatible mode....donno whether it was IDE OR RAID.
