XP to Win 7 Easy Transfer Question

Hello,

My XP desktop failed, but the hard drive is fine and I have in installed in an external case.
Trying to use Windows Easy Transfer from the new Win 7 desktop. I can get it copied to a folder on the old drive, but the shortcut to open & run it does not appear. Just the file folders.

I have my software and could just re-install & copy the data over but I would really like to keep all my email & setteings etc which transfer well with the Windows program.

You have to be able to boot both systems in order to use the transfer wizard, it won't work the way you are set up.
