itanium2 is gonna be one killer server, projected benches have a 1GHz I2 10x faster than a 750MHz sparc3 but in all fairness if the sparc was 1GHz then I2 would be maybe ~6x -8x faster, imho.

This is the second time Intel have released Itanium figures compared to UltraSPARC processors and the second time they have embarrassed themselves.

The keep swapping between USIII 750Mhz and USIII 1050Mhz. Is this the way you do proper benchmarks... NO. Is this the way you fudge figures to make your unreleased crap product look better... YES.

In real world multiprocessor massive transaction tasks Sun delivers as the hardware and OS are purpose built. Intel is still learning the 64bit ropes.

Also remember that the Jalapeno USIIIi processor will probably be released around the Itanium2 time which will battle with I2 on the low end 1-4 CPUs. At the top end Itanium can't cut it with USIII 106cpu ES15k.
