I am concerned with the temperature that my Athlon XP 1900+ frequently runs at. It runs from anywhere from 140 Farenheit to 150+ Farenheit. I know this is hot, but does it border on temperatures that will possibly damage the cpu?? I have the retail HSF + artic silver thermal paste on it, all inside an Enlight 7237 midtower case with 3 fans (1 intake, 2 out take). Any insight from anyone with past experience with Athlon cpu's running hot would be nice.

Thanks in advance,

Nah, too hot for an XP is like 90C. As long as you don't have any severe lockups with the temp you're running, you're fine.

140-150 F is like 60-65c right? That's higher than "normal" (but by no means high enough to be concerned. Even with my 7+ and case open I've OC'd to 70c for a 4 hour RTCW session), but test something to see what's keeping you so high. When you run the case open, what temps do you see? Also, make sure you use MBM 5.0. If it drops substantially, you've got caseflow problems, because you're trapping hot air. If it doesn't drop much, remove the HSF, clean CPU and HS with acetone, and reapply. I made the mistake of putting too much on (like 3 grains of rice worth instead of 1/2 one, lol) and my temps were awful. Reappy with a thin, THIN layer and you're fine. Also, one intake and two extra fans makes an uneven pressure with PS fan (making it one in, THREE out). Try flipping one fan over. Good luck, let us know.

The temp which is too hot for the axp is the temp at which your computer locks up, if your pc does not lock up you are 100% good to go.

Agreed. I've had my temps up to 75 degrees C (~160 F) and it's stable. No problems whatsoever. It's so hot because I always have SETI on though.
