I put this computer together about a month ago and up until now I haven't had any problems. I will be in the middle of a game and my computer will reset. When I first put the system together it ran at about 52 degrees. Now it runs at about 56 degrees.
My system specs are:
amd xp 2100+
thermaltake volcano 7+, artic silver 3
enermax 430 watt psu
geforce4 ti 4600
maxtor 60 gig
If you need more info than this I can give it to you.

Try dusting out the hsf and any other dust you see. Mine got _very_ dusty in just one month's time.

You have the system that I am thinking about building. I am trying to decide which processor to upgrade to from a PIII 1ghz. What kind of games are you playing? What MB do you have? Thanks for any info...Jeff

Have you changed anything from your original configuration since you put it together?

Vacuum around your PC more, and clean your air filters in the house. That will help keep dust out of the PC.

I reciently vacuumed and blew out my computers, and it was amazing how much quieter and cooler they got.

I play most of the new games. Star Wars Jedi knight 2, C&C Renegade, Medal of Honor:AA, and Star Wars:Galactic Battlegrounds. I have 512 mb corsair pc2700 ram and a gigabyte ga-7vrxp mobo. It's a very fast computer.

Those are all ancient. All the cool people are playing Morrowind, GTA3 and SoF2 now

Is that the newest one from Gigabyte that some people are having problems with? Have you had any problems? Where did you buy from?

It's the newest one but this is the only problem that I've had and I don't think it's the mobo's problem. GTA3 is ancient I beat it almost a year ago on my ps2. the games I mentioned only came out a few months ago.

GTA3 on PC just came out, though. I don't really play console games anymore.

try getting an aluminum case. gives me 25 degrees temp. :^]
I hate damn dust! though I've had my PC since DEC 2001 and haven't dusted it yet. My case does have two front fans with an dust filter. It's a Lian-Li PC-7 Mid-Tower case. Dust still sucks!

I already have an aluminum case.

That's a heavy HSF (1 1/2 pound with fan) that only supports itself with the side clips (and its one peg per clip!). If they don't clip on just right or lean slightly, you lose the good contact and the CPU protection can kick in. I would take it off, clean it and CPU, then reapply AS3 and re-mount. Get that thing on perfectly flat and tight. Good luck!

i doubt it's a heat problem. I remember reading (can't quite put my finger on it) that their's no thermal protection and when the processor reaches 75C or above your computer will just start to beep, it won't shut off by itself

My hsf is supported by 3 pegs on each side. I think thermaltake must have changed it because even the pictures in the manual had one peg.
