I have an older computer that was always crashing for any and every possible reason. I deleted the FAT system and tried replacing the internal battery before correcting my problem, as a result my arm that holds the battery in place snapped off and I want to know if I should or could repair the arm (is that possible) or should I replace the mb? Any help or suggestions would be great.

I don't know the answer, but it's a good question:

Find two solder points for the battery (follow the traces), and solder on two wires. Then you can attach any kind of 1.5v battery you like, even a AA. Heck, you could use a D cell, but even a AA would die from age before it went dead from load.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Thanks for that info Crashman but the arm broke at the corner of the holder can I still solder, I don't have experience with doing that nor do I have the equipment, but would like to try any suggested reading to prepare for it or any visuals online that would be helpful, and where is the best place to buy the soldering kit.

*slap* - That was helpful.

Get a hobbyist soldering iron (not a big thick one) and some fine 1.2 mm solder from radioshack or similar.
