Hi I'm trying to choose between a P4 2.0Ghz and an Athlon Xp 2001? What do you think is better I'm not a wild overclocker nor gamer and if I can get the speed up by 200Mhz I don't need more. As RDRAM prices have dropped massively the difference between the 845G(I have defintely made up my mind to buy an MSI 845G Max-L mobo if I go w/DDR) with DDR333(w/DDR400 the price is almost the same) and 850 with RDRAM 1066 isnt so bad what would you recommend? There have been lots of rumors that Rambus is well-dead and it is looked upon like an old man on his death bed-how come doesn't rdram hold the best performance,is it such a bad investment?!

You might check out my post which is very similar to yours. Apparently there is much debate regarding whether Rdram is going away or not and from the responses that I have received everyone says to go with it as DDR will slow a P4 down. What was you deciding factor on the MB? I am trying to figure out which one to buy and it seems to be between the Abit BD7 II or the Asus P4t533-C. Did you see the sharkyextreme.com article on building a high end gamming machine?

If you have no qualms about overclocking, you should get the 1.8z northwoodA and run it at 133fsb on a rdram motherboard.

If you are not comfortable overclocking the 2100+ is going to easily be the best bang for your buck, and the p4 2000 is not going to out perform the 2100+ untill it hits around 2250 mhz.

I haven't chosen Msi for any part. reason as I live in Bulgaria the ASUS hasn't arrived hear yet but I' hearin very negative opinions about how ABIT have started to downgrade their quality of workmanship. I would buy the ASUS. BTW has anyone heard of the EPOX mobo?
