refresh rate

quick question, whats the refresh rate on a monitor actually do? like what would the differnce be if i set mine to 60 or like 75 or 80? i dont really notice anything other than sometimes it puts a small boarder around the edge


does this effect framerates in games or anything?

so all it really does is reduce flicker eh? why does the immage seem to get smaller on higher refresh rates? some put a little boarder around the screen and i have to resize

i think refresh rate only limits game fps when vsync is on. if left off the video card continues to crank out frame updates as fast as it can, with the result that each refresh contains multiple frames in time (tearing).
