Hello,
just really curious if this laptop is any good for gaming (current games and new ones for the near future).

· Intel 2nd Generation II Quad Core i7-2630QM processor (2.0 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.90 GHz, 6 MB L3 cache)

· Genuine Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium 64 bit

· 8GB Fast DDR3 RAM

· Huge 640GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive

· NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M with 2GB of dedicated DDR3 VRAM

· 15.6" WXGA CrystalBrite widescreen, 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.

· DVD-Super Multi Dual Layer Burner.

· Built-In Webcam

· HDMI™ port with HDCP support

· BlueTooth 3.0 built-in, 802.11a/b/g/N Wireless Lan,

· 5-in-1 Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro/xD)

At not high video settings, it will do fine. You may want to get a 7200 rpm drive if you can. If you want the laptop to run games in a couple of years, also should think about a bit faster video card. http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-540M.41715.0.html

While the 540M is perfectly fine, you'll have to turn down video settings to get decent frame rates as games add more and more detail.

And a 15.6" screen is also a bit small for gaming, 17" would be better.

But all this is based on your budged of course, what you picked is just fine, just not ideal for a gaming laptop. Also keep in mind, a laptop is very hard or impossible to upgrade, so spending a couple of 100 more now will save you frustration in the future.

I'd get the Asus G53SW-XN1 Laptop: i7 2630QM, GTX 460M, 6GB DDR3, 500GB 7200rpm, 15.6" LED (1920x1080), 8-Cell battery, $793 After $100 Rebate + Free Shipping

The GTX 460M is a high-end mobile card. It can play the majority of games on high at 1080p. They're discussing it in slickdeals here if you want more info: http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/58572/newegg-asus-g53swxn1-laptop-i7-2630qm-2.0ghz-quad-core-cpu-6gb-ddr3-500gb-hdd-15.6-led-1920x1080-wifi-n-8cell-win-7-prem
