I have just purchased a P4 2.26B with the 533MHz FSB. I also picked up an ASUS P4TC/533 and 512MB of RAMBUS. Is it true that due to the sensitivity of the RAMBUS I won't be able to raise my FSB to get this processor up to 2.8GHz like it's been "rumored to achieve.

Thanx in advance!

What brand of Rambus did you get? Samsung suposedly can handle some pretty high speeds.

If your Rambus can't stand the throttling up the FSB to get you to that rumored speed, you can step it down to 3X speed as opposed to it's standard 4X speed, and it should be fine. (I believe that's what Fatburger is doing to get his FSB over 170).

The rimms are by Syncmax. Is Fatburger using special cooling to get those speeds. I've been told you can get the FSB to 150 but I never would have imagined over 170. I don't want to stress my components physically so I am willing to take whatever increase I can get from tweaking the BIOS.

I'm not trying to overclock the RAM right now. I just want to know if I can actually overclock the CPU to 2.8GHz just by adjusting the BIOS and using stock cooling.

When you overclock one, you'll overclock the other. PC1066, if proper spec, should run at least to 150MHz. If you have trouble beyond that, you'll have to drop the memory multiplier from 4 to 3.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Yeah but I have PC800, and I am going jumper free on my mobo so I want to know how high I can go in the BIOS with that speed of RAM w/o causing physical distress in it.h

Just don't exceed 480MHz for your bus speed. The highest mine can go is only 480MHz but that is already kind of unstable when i run some heavy processing games like chessmaster. The PC restarts by itself after some time at 480MHz bus speed.
Try setting at 3X rather than 4X if you really want to clock higher...
