I inadvertently broke off one of the small pins that protrude from my PIII cpu. Do you think I've rendered the cpu unusable or is it possible it can be soldered back on?

I wouldn't. There's always the possibility of frying the motherboard in the process. If you're going to completely replace it, then it's worth trying it. But if you plan on keeping the motherboard and RAM, then don't try to fix it.

No, I don't think you've rendered it unusable. Show me a pick of the pin side, and I'll check against the pin chart-probably over half of the pins on the PIII are redundant.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Hey Crash you're a P3 expert, do you know if Coppermines have both Slot 1 AND socket form?
THG says Slot 1, my friend has Socket, THG does not specify there is socket.

I can answer that and yes the Coppermine core came in both Slot1 and Socket370

Check out my rig:
