I have both the MN 710 USB adapter and the MN 700 wireless
router from Microsoft. I live in an apartment complex and
my wireless router and adapter are placed about 10 feet
apart and the signal goes through one wall in a closet.
The are both located away from tv's and there isn't a
cordless phone being used in this apartment. The router
is located slightly higher than the adapter.
At least once a day, the wireless signal drops out and I'm
no longer on the internet. I then have to power cycle the
router and hope for the best to get reconnected.
There are 2 other wireless networks that I can see by
their ID, one running on channel 5 and the other on
channel 8. I use channel 1 and have tried to use just
about any other channel on the spectrum, but one remains
connected the most often.
Is there anything else I can do to keep connected? The
Linksys wireless range expanders are NOT compatable with
the Microsoft products.

I am having a similar problem. I have the MN700 and the
MN710 and get low signal strength even though the
machines are within 75 feet. Wireless-G should be good
for 250' indoors and nearly 1000' outdoors. Any
suggestions? I tried the Lynksys range expander and it
won't work with the MS product. I know some 802.11B APs
can also act as repeaters, but I did not see the same
information on any 802.11G packages and would be afraid
that they too wouldn't cooperate with MS hardware?

75 feet will be low signal strength, especially with walls and
ceilings. there is no way to add any hardware that will wirelessly
repeat or extend the signal from a MN700. you would have to hardwire
another access point to it and use "roaming".
