Got a few people guessing that the CH will debut at a higher cost than the debut of other AMD processors. Though motherboards vary greatly in price, anyone have any predictions as to whether CH motherboards overall will cost a lot more or less than socket A boards. They'll have all the hypertransport stuff but no Northbridge.

AMD has already said that Clawhammer platform will price in line with current processors. In other words it will likely be more expensive than Athlon systems, but not much more than comparable P4 systems.

I expect that initially distributors might charge a premium for boards and CPUs, but we'll have to wait and see. My predictions:

Hammer 2800 or 3000 price will be around $250-$350
Hammer board price will be around $200

After 6 months or so prices for boards AND CPUs will likely decrease. Note that I specified a 2800 to 3000 Hammer, NOT a 3400.
