A7n8X deluxe and Athlon xp 1700

Hi,

I'm trying to come up with a highly economical yet upgradeable system. Does anybody have any suggestions for this configuration?
I went with the high quality mobo so the the processor can be upgraded when prices come down. The same for the video card. This system is
not for a gamer so I think it is adequete. I would really appreciate it if everybody gave their opinions.

  1. I just specced a system and am picking it up tomorrow. I was advised to avoid the NForce2 chipsets as the shop I picked has had many failures. Therefore, Via.

Note that if you are using XP, 256 mb of RAM is the Minimum recommended. 512 is better.

    For $25 or $30 more, you can get a 2100+ or 2200+.

    Just my two cents.

  2. The Nforce2 boards are, in most people's opinions here, better than the VIA boards. I've built one system with the A7N8X and had no problems.

  3. I think it's a pretty good setup. I didn't really check the prices though.
