I'm running ABIT BE6 II / 700 Pent (100 FSB) III Slot 1 with three sticks of 256 MG error correcting memory ATI All in Wonder 128...Cable Modem. I ran the NZ Bios for over a year very contently ... until I got the itch last night and upgraded the bios to 70.
I've not been keeping up with processors.
I have some 256 / 133 memory on hand just collecting dust. My HD and CDROM/DVD are Ultra DMA 33

I'm considering upgrading to 133 FSB Pentium® III 933EB SLOT1, SECC2, 256K Cache, Coppermine.
COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS SOUGHT. Is this worth doing for about $125.00??
Thanks in advance.

You can get an ecsk7s5a and a duron1ghz for less money(or around the same).

That mobo can use sdram and it wont even require a new psu, imo thats the better upgrade.

Kits ... Interesting ideas Guys ... but then I would have to buy new 266 memory which is do-able -- otherwise, the CPU sits waiting on the PC133 memory like a throttle on a car.
What is the breakpoint that CPU speed should change from PC133 to 266 speed memory?
At what speed do I _have_ to change operating systems (and to what OP SYS?)? I'm kinda married to WIN98 with all the sofrware I own.
I've got XP home upgrade and use it for Internet. With a cable modem, I'm usually waiting on the servers on the other end as is.
Supposedly, I'm to get XP Pro in a few weeks.

IF I have to get new software ... some of which is not on the market at a cheap price anymore ... then the move goes from not bad to expensive.

Even with 133 memory the 1500+ will school the p3 933 for less money.

Plus you will have an upgrade path to ddr and faster tbred and barton chips.

As for the forum, the early revisions of that board had some issues, but the later revisions run really good, the doa rate is a tad bit high, but it is not enough to disuade me from reccomending it.

If you wanna spend more for the p3 933 and get much less performance, no upgrade path etc, thats fine, just offering you options.
