HOW CAN YOU TELL IF ITS YOUR INVERTOR OR BACKLIGHT OUT

my laptop went black the screen i read were it might be a lose connection so i poppedopen the screen unplugged the invertor and it worked fine for a while then when one day iwent to turn it and black screen how can i tell if its the invertor or backlight?
