I have 1600 canadian dollars to burn and I want to buy a computer. So what I would like to know is what you think I should build with this money. I want a great gaming machine, one with good framerates and is reliable. The computer I have crashes every 5 seconds. Do not worry about a monitor, I have one of them collectin' dust right now that I will use for a while. I can also dig up a hard drive. Also I should probably make something clear... I DO NOT want to overclock. So what components would you suggest?

Simple, you want an amd 1800+, an abit kr7a motherboard(or equavalent) 512 megs of pc2100 cl2 ddr ram, a geforce 4 ti4400.

There you go, extremely kickass system around 700ish.

(add in case etc etc)

Unfortunately he doesn't want to overclock. I guess you can still use the thread, but just use a AXP proc and a AMD mobo. It'll be a bit cheaper than my possible "to-be" system, but I can overclock it and get some more performance.

Thanx for the input, The mobo there though leaves basically no room for upgrade, there must be a better choice. Such as the Abit KX7-333?

How reliable are the KX7-333 boards? I am thinking of an AMD 2000+ with the ABIT KX7-333.

You think the AT7 has no room for upgrading? How so? Please explain. The KX7-333 looks pretty good. As does the ASUS A7V333.
