  2. Mobile versions of i5 are 2 core /I think all of them/, not quad, so for mobile processors there is big difference between a i7 and i5.
    Clevo/Sager are a good choice.
  3. Well, if you wanna save some money instead of the 560m, you could get this hp. The 6770m is better than the 555m but not quite the 560m.

ends up at £675 which is a steal.

  4. Hello glen_doulas;

Nothing wrong with your spec requirements.
But as you're finding out your budget doesn't cover that amount of hardware.
SAGER NP8130 15.6" High Performance Gaming Laptop, nVidia Geforce GTX560M, Core i7 2360QM, 8GB RAM
    Toshiba Qosmio X770 i7 2360QM & GTX 560M
ASUS G74SX Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop,
  5. This Sager/Clevo at the UK Amazon looks to me pretty expensive.
This is the same model at the Sager's site:
and you can get it for some ~200$ less at some sites in US.

Sager is the largest Clevo distributor in US, check for a distributor in UK.
  6. What your £900 budget will cover: Dell XPS 17
    The £899 model has the Core i7-2630QM, 6GB RAM, 1TB 7200rpm HDD, 17.3" 1600x900 LCD w/ GT 555M graphics.
  7. Important note:

For most laptops the CPU and GPU are NOT upgradeable. Only high end laptops (meaning expensive) have a replaceable graphics.

I would recommend the HP over this though, 15.6" screen like he specified, 1920x1080, and a 6770m which is equal to/better than the 555m. And I have a general distaste for dell.

    and it's £225 cheaper

    If only that were true.
As far as I can tell there are no HD 6770M models available in the UK.
  10. MSI GT683DXR

    Intel Core i7 2630QM

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570M (DDR5 1.5GB)

    1TB hard drive

    12GB DDR3 memory

    USB 3.0

    HDMI Port

  11. From the HP UK website @ £899 HP Pavilion dv6-6157ea
    Core i7-2630QM, 6GB RAM, 750GB 5400rpm HDD, 15.6" 1366x768 LCD w/ Radeon HD 6490M graphics + Blu-Ray optical drive.

With Radeon HD 6490M graphics an i5-2410 CPU might be a better match and HP has a £679 HP Pavilion dv6-6153ea
