Help me guys :smile:
Imagine I have XP 1700(1466 Mhz) at 1.5v (I don't have it yet, someone to know when we will see it?).
I want to downclock to 1000 Mhz.
What voltage I should set?(I guess I must lower it, not to damage the cpu)
Will I achieve lower voltage if I take XP 1900(again at 1.5v) and downclock it to 1000 Mghz?

Well 1.5v is already 2.5 below it's stock voltage of 1.75, so taking the 1700+ multiplier to 7.5x133 will achieve the 1GHz and 1.5V should be fine. I don't see the point in doing that to a 1900. I don't see why you just don't buy a TBIRD 1GHz ?

Well, I ment the new XP 1700(0.13) which will be by default 1.5v :cool: . I'm not bying TBIRD 1GHz (54 Watts), because I want to be fanless :smile:

You don't need to lower the voltage to underclock, but underclocking allows you to do it. I doubt any boards will let you go under 1.5v though. Lowering voltage will help cooling, if you can do it.

Get yourself the big swiftech copper heatsink and a power supply with a large vent area next to the cpu, to help draw heat away.

Most Durons (morgan-core) can handle 1,4-1,45v, even at 1,3GHz! There are mobo´s out there, where you can set the Vcore to 1,0-1,9v with 0,05v steppings. The ECS K7S6A is one of them.

Yee I think ECS K7S6A is great, but I want thermal protection so A7S333 or A7V333. About Durons ... thats still 0.18 :tongue: .

The Power Supply will be fanless, also :wink:
++++++++
The improtant thing was that even if I set multiplier to 5
and not change the vcore voltage, the cpu will be just fine.
So there is not any chance to damage it, while experimenting
Thank you.

I've actually never tried to lower the voltage on an Athlon of any variety.
