Omid's articles has gotten people worked up and it's really pathetic. When you respond negatively to his article you just strengthen the points he makes that most missed because they didn't fully read and/or understand the 1st or 2nd article.

Flaming/FUDing him or others who agree is waste of bandwith. Being a fanboy is dumb, he attacked AMD fanboys for a reason (because they have the biggest mouths). But if you understand what he is getting at then you can't help but agree (fanboy or not).

Omid wants to have 2 top notch CPU maufacturers and I can't blame him for that. I would like to see AMD step up to the bigtimes just because it would lower prices across the board.

I would like to see AMD get really strongerand go for Intel's throat. Mind you I am not an AMD fanboy but since I have limited resources I would to see a CPU war where both companies damn near killed themselves to good product at a great price. I'm talking about top notch processors debuting a $250. This could happen if AMD stepped up its game which it could do, but sacrifices would have to be made and the questions becomes is AMD willing to let go of that diehard fanbase.

I would like other peoples opinion on the matter and I realize that asking for this thread to be flame free is worthless ... so write what you feel!

Omid misses the reason why AMD hasn't gone for the gold...stockholders don't like it. What happens when AMD becomes ultra competitive? A price war. AMD's last price war drop the per unit profit down so far that they actually took a loss on their lower end processors. Which spelled death for the Duron. AMD would have been well served to drop any low end, non-profitable processors from their line, and keep competing at the high end...maybe. For a long time I was promoting AMD processors, it wasn't until Intel released the Northwood that I switched sides again.

I think that wont be a problem if they can make a serious push into the business side of the OEM market which is where Intel makes a serious bundle.

I think they should build a name for themselves in the retail market first.
