Hi, Does anyone know if the VIA C3 processor can decode a full res MPEG4 video? The C3 1GHz review mentions encoding... but nothing about decoding....

Thanks!

I think the answer would be yes. A Pentium II can decode MPEG2 in real time.

Yeah the newest C3 is good for a multimedia system. Try getting a mini form board. They actually came out with one smaller then mini itx. Basically you can make a set top box sized computer with the c3. However don't even try to game on it!

If you can wait, Via is releasing their Nehemiah core soon, based on the same C3 line. It will be 1.3 Ghz and in the future up to 1.8 Ghz some speculate.

This little cathode light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine!

But are they only naming it that way just for better core names or are there some improvements? Generally higher speeds never create a new core name unless it's a new process.
