Some of the icons on my desktop are darker than other ones. They were all bright but now some of them look like it does when u click on them once. They are like this all the time even if i change themes. Have looked all over and cant find out how to change them back or undo it.
Running XP Pro if it makes a difference.

Possible help:

<A HREF="http://is-it-true.org/nt/xp/atips/atips19.shtml" target="_new">Repair the Icon Cache in Windows XP</A>

And/or ...

Disable Desktop Cleanup Wizard:

"Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Explorer\Desktop\CleanupWiz. Value Name: NoRun, Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value), Value Data: (0 = enabled, 1= disable wizard). Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value, called 'NoRun' and edit the value according to the settings below. Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect."

A good place to look for information of this sort:

Figured it out.
Somehow just some of the icons properties got changed to hidden. Noticed when I set to not show hidden files and folders. Unchecked the hidden attribure and alls well now.
Dont know how they got changed but have an idea it was my son.
Hope this helps someone in the future
