No internet access in windows 7

Hello,

I have just bought a new laptop with windows 7 on. The wireless is connecting to the router, but is saying the router is not connected to the internet. However my old laptop with vista is connected to the internet with no problems. How can I connect the new laptop?

have you made sure the firewall is not blocking access, and that the network is set as 'home' network?

if so, the first thing to try (that works surprisingly often) is to restart the adapter. just right click the signal bar in the system tray, select network and sharing center, then click the button on the left that says 'change adapter settings'. next right click the wireless adapter and hit disable. then do the same again and click enable.

it may solve the issue, so give it a go and report back.
