Interesting. But i will play the skeptic here: It doesnt matter how much compiler support AMD gets if the chip sucks. We have heard very little about Opteron. Which makes me wonder why.
Never-the-less its nice to see some big names behind x86-64

I am waiting for the Opteron to come out for my next upgrade. So it better be as good as I hope it will be. Otherwise I will probably buy Intel for the forseable future.

a opteron it a server chip mainly sold by OEM if there some interest.you will be buy a clawhammer

I know Opteron is a server chip. But it will have a few features that the clawhammer will not. I'm just hoping AMD keeps its pricing as is so that the Opteron is only slightly more expensive then the athlon.
