Can someone tell why my system now thinks my XP1600 is now only run at according to WinXP 1.05ghz and the bios startup screen as 1052mhz and not 1500 or 1600.Running on Abit KG7 with 512 ddr dram.
Thanks

First of all, XP1600 means 1.4GHZ.
Second of all, I seriously hope you at least read the motherboard manuals, as this is the most frequently asked question by people. Your FSB MUST BE at 133MHZ or otherwise it will run at 1.05GHZ.
Sorry for being rough, but sometimes I really ask myself who bothers to research on what they buy and get informed.

your system bus speed is set to 100, not the usual 133.
reasons for this happening include:

A. Failing to read the manual when building your system, with the fsb jumper let of the default of 100
or
B. a bad boot/reboot resetting the bios to 'safe' settings

Or you didn't set the FSB to 133 instead of 100 inside the BIOS (some motherboards set the FSB for 100 MHz with every CPU).
