Windows 7 will not install drivers for canon 8400 scanner

I tried to mimic the instructions given for the 4200."Canon scanner 4200F drivers for win7 ". I unplugged the scanner and installed the drivers from Canon for Windows 7 (64 bit). From what is shown on the Canon drivers, there is not a similar deldrvvst file, nor is there a cstbwin file to install either. My scanner operates with Acrobat but I do not have access to it otherwise.

Thanks.

  1. For 64-bit Windows 7, download & install ScanGear CS v10.231a: http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer_Products/products/scanners/CanoScan_series/CanoScan_8400F.aspx?type=download&page=1

That is all you need to install (in fact, ScanGear CS is the only Windows 7 driver that's available for the CanoScan 8400).

you should then be able to use your scanner from within any TWAIN-compliant graphics application.
