My Palm doesn't give alarms anymore all of a sudden - neither from
World Clock, Bugme or Agendus. Where should I start looking for the
problem?

-Tap "Home"

-Find "Pref(erences)"

-Under "General", tap "Sounds & Alert"

-The settings therein are global, so it might be worth investigating.

If everything seems all right, test to see if the sound output works at all.
Use something like an MP3 player or, even more easily, move the sliders
under Sounds & Alert. You should hear test sounds.

Did you loose all sounds, or just the alarms?

And do you use head/earphones with it?

I had a set of headphones which would so something to the earphone jack such
that all sounds were cut off until I gave the back of the machine a few taps.

Don't look for the problem, look for the solution. Start by looking at
the reset button. Then press it.

In every case where I've seen a Palm quit waking up to give alarms, it was
because it got low on power and didn't quite come back up cleanly. Again,
in every case, a hardware reset kicked it back into proper shape.

You don't mention what model of Palm you are using. It matters. If for
instance, if it is the T|E then the problem could be the speaker
contacts that connect the board to the speaker. This would cause you to
lose all sound, not just the alarms. This is a failry common issue with
the T|E. To solve it take off the back of the device and clean the
contacts.

Thanks all for replies.
Reset did it.
BTW it's a T3 and I was still using it happily for music so sound was
OK generally, just alarms were not working. And it had recently been
low on power (because that bloody wireless card eats it up so
quickly...)
Cheers.
