Hey I am trying to set up a network in my home. But the
computers cannot recognize each other since one is running
xp, and the other windsows 2000. anyone know what to do,
to get the computers to recognize each other. i sthere any
update or software that can help?

Jimmy, this newsgroup supports Microsoft's Broadband Networking hardware and
software products, not networking in general. Have you shared any files on
either machine? On the XP machine, check in Help and Support for
"networking" without the quotes. If you have further questions, I'd suggest
posting to the microsoft.public.windows.network_web newsgroup for general
help.

All you two need to do is to make sure both machines are on
the same network, enabled file sharing via control panel ->
networking, and share a folder on each to check. Some
firewall programs (Sygate) will require you to enable file
sharing/network neighborhood.
