Hello! I want to upgrade the CPU of my HP Brio 7174 (currently a Celeron 333Mhz). What is the fastest CPU I can put in? How do I replace the CPU (do I need to change 'jumper's' positions)?
cheers,
Francois
We'll need a little more info than that to be able to help you. What's the chipset (motherboard)? (Maybe you could link us to the product specs.)
If you want a good upgrade, it may be easier to change the platform altogether (CPU+motherboard+memory) than to upgrade a Celeron 333. I'm guessing your CPU is a SECC package on Slot 1. Also if your motherboard sports a 440BX chipset, you'd have more options but that would imply a Slotket adapter, overclocking and voltage tweaking.
People here who are good technicians can assist you in this task of upgrading. But if you are not too familiar with computer tweaking, your best resort is to change your platform. Prices may vary according to what you want.

Then go ahead and buy that C3 CPU!</font color=red>
