unwanted startup items

All of a sudden my computer has started bringing up windows explorer and C:\Program Files\COMMON when I boot up. I know how to stop programs from coming up on boot up but where do I go for files being brought up?

Go to Run, and type MSCONFIG on the next window, click the Startup tab, at the right side... and if it's there, uncheck it and any unwanted start up programs.

that worked for one of them somehow but I still get windows explorter coming up at startup. there isn't anything there to take that off.
