I put a disc in and the green light goes on then a beep then nothing, can anyone help?

Does the same thing happen for ALL discs? Or just some?
Test with a known good CD or DVD disc.

Thanks for the quick reply, yes it does it with everything, even tried Gericom Product Recovery and Driver Update Discs. Uninstalled and let the computer reinstal still nada, so frustrating as just bought a good Logitech web cam and of course cannot install it, yuk. I hope you can help.

When you look in Device Manager can you see your DVD/CD drive listed?
Click on the little triangle to get the full device listing.
Any red of yellow flags on the device?
Right click on the DVD/CD drive and choose Update Driver Software.

How to use Device Manager

Check on the software's webpage. You might be able to download the software directly to your laptop. Not all laptops with webcams even have CD/DVD ('Netbooks especially).

Hi thanks for the tip for the web cam. Sorry already checked for flags none there also Device Manager says there are no problems and it is working. Umm it definately is not working. Put good discs in green light comes on then a beep then nada. It gives up !!!!
